Annual clean-up of the Japanese Cemetery in Colma.
On Julye 31, we participated in the annual clean-up of the Japanese Cemetery in Colma, California, with fellow volunteers from Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California (JCCNC).
The Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (The Center) organizes an annual clean-up of the Japanese Cemetery in Colma, California, approximately 20 minutes from San Francisco by car. The 3-acre cemetery is the final resting place for more than 5,000 people and a commemorative tower recognizes the three crewmen from the famous ship Kanrin-Maru which journeyed from Japan and arrived in San Francisco 1860. We are thankful for all those earlier immigrants, who opened the gates for us to be safely and peacefully live in California, USA in this age.
